The Irish Dance Programme was founded in 2024 by professional Irish dancer Ruth Eva McKenna. Originally from Donegal, Ireland — a place renowned for its vibrant Irish music, dance, and culture — Ruth recognized the need for a comprehensive platform that celebrates Irish dance, music, and culture in a positive and inclusive way, welcoming everyone, regardless of their background or skill level, from all around the world.

Ruth’s professional journey began in 2016 when she joined the cast of Riverdance, touring globally and performing in prestigious venues like the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai and the Kremlin Palace in Russia. Alongside Riverdance, Ruth performed with various renowned Irish dance companies, gaining invaluable experience and insights into the art form.

The Irish Dance Programme reflects Ruth’s passion for creating a safe, supportive space for dancers to explore Irish dance while embracing their own unique journeys. She challenges the conventional strict rules and regulations of Irish dance, blending creative expression with respect for its traditional roots.

At the heart of Ruth’s vision is a commitment to building a community founded on love, passion, and connection. Through The Irish Dance Programme, she continues to inspire and empower dancers to delve into the rich traditions of Irish culture, forging meaningful experiences that celebrate the art of Irish dance in all its forms.
